Udham Singh Nagar– Unity Law College, Rudrapur recently hosted an enlightening guest lecture on the topic, “Medical Jurisprudence in the 21st Century: Balancing Patients’ Rights and Medical Accountability.” The event was part of the college’s ongoing efforts to provide students with practical knowledge at the intersection of law and medicine. The insightful session was delivered by Dr. Sunil Singh Gautam, a renowned medical professional with a unique combination of qualifications in both the medical and legal fields.
Dr. Gautam holds an MCh in Neurosurgery, along with an MBBS and MS in General Surgery, and has further enhanced his expertise with an LL.B. degree. This combination of credentials allows him to approach complex medical issues with a dual perspective, considering both clinical implications and legal responsibilities. During the lecture, he discussed various case studies and scenarios that highlighted the evolving role of medical jurisprudence, especially in safeguarding patients’ rights while ensuring medical accountability.
The event began with a brief speech by a Teacher who emphasized the importance of exposing students to interdisciplinary knowledge that can enrich their legal education. They expressed their pride in the college’s commitment to bringing expert-led sessions that enhances both theoretical and practical understanding.
Principal Prof. (Dr.) K.S. Rathore also addressed the gathering, highlighting how medical jurisprudence is increasingly relevant to the field of law and encouraging students to consider the ethical aspects of their future careers.
