Unity Law College, Rudrapur, organized an Intra-College Conventional Debate Competition on 22nd April 2025 on the theme “The Waqf Amendment Act, 2025: Balancing Transparency and Religious Autonomy.”
The event was successfully convened by Ms. Teena Kala (Faculty Convenor) and Mr. Varun Rai Saxena (Faculty Co-Convenor), attracting wide participation from students of various academic years.
A total of nine teams and three individual speakers presented well-researched and intellectually stimulating arguments on this contemporary legislative development. Participants addressed the legal, social, and religious aspects of the Act, making the event an engaging platform for academic discourse and analytical thinking.
The college Principal, Prof. (Dr.) K.S. Rathore, in his address, said, “Debates like this strengthen our students’ understanding of the law in action. The Waqf Amendment Act touches sensitive yet vital areas of governance and religious rights. It is heartening to see our future legal professionals engaging in such responsible dialogue.” He also praised the faculty for their consistent efforts in shaping students into socially aware and articulate individuals.

Their presence and encouragement added great value to the academic environment of the competition. The college continues to uphold its tradition of promoting legal awareness and excellence on communication through such interactive events.
