Cyber Crime Police Station, Kumaun Range, Rudrapur, recently conducted a Cyber Crime Awareness and Reporting seminar at the request of the principal of R.A.N Public School, Rudrapur. The event featured Inspector Lalita Sharma from the Vigilance Department and Sub-Inspector Vandana Chaudhary, who emphasized the importance of online safety to parents, teachers, and students. The session focused on empowering participants to navigate the digital world responsibly by educating them on online threats, safety best practices, and essential digital safety measures.
A similar cyber awareness workshop took place on November 6, 2024, at the Cooperative Dairy Training Institute in Lalkuan, upon the request of its director. Sub-Inspectors Vandana Chaudhary and Deepak Sati led this session, targeting the institute’s staff and management committee of milk unions. They shared insights on recognizing and responding to cyber threats.
Key points included the features of the Uttarakhand Police App, identifying phishing, malware, and cyberbullying, safe browsing and password management, protecting personal data and privacy, and the importance of reporting suspicious activities to authorities.
Participants were also introduced to vital cyber helpline portals, including Tafcop for tracking mobile numbers associated with Aadhaar cards, Ceir for stolen mobile phones, Stop NCII for addressing non-consensual intimate image abuse, Chakshu for reporting suspicious mobile numbers, and the NCRP portal accessible at https://cybercrime.gov.in.
Essential helpline numbers were shared to ensure ongoing support and assistance in cyber-related issues. These included the Cyber Crime Helpline Number (1930), Police Helpline Number (112), Anti-Corruption Helpline for Uttarakhand (1064), and Child Helpline Number (1098).
